What is OpenStack?

April 1, 2013 Scott

OpenStack is an Ifrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) computing solution that is open source under the Apache License. The modular architecture includes:

  • Computing
  • Object Storage
  • Block Storage
  • Image Service
  • Identity Service
  • Dashboard Admin
  • Networking

Customers such as the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) choose OpenStack so their large data stores can be accessed easily and openly by the public.
